MS Living
People with Multiple Sclerosis Helping Each Other
We all need to find meaning in our life. Very often people define themselves in terms of what they do and their social circumstances, just the kinds of things that can change radically when MS rears its ugly head.
How does an MSr, buffeted by earth-shattering changes in the fundamental elements of their life that they had used to define themselves, the things that gave a purpose to their life, survive? What does it take to make a wholesale change of focus and values to ensure that the person does not get lost in the disease?
I am a visual artist. I paint with oils and acrylics. 4 years ago I started losing the use of my right hand and I’m right handed. When all right hand use was lost, I stopped painting. A year ago my husband and best friend convinced me to paint with my left.
Now I paint with my left. My style is completely different and my art will be on exhibition with 4 other disabled artists in June.
